Like other euro-zone nations, Italy is making painful cutbacks. A nurse and teacher in Italy say they are caught in the middle of a transition from strong state spending, to a more heavily privatized system. Others push for a United States of Europe to keep Italy and the rest of Europe competitive. As part of the series “Cutting Back”, WSJ’s Andy Jordan reports from Rome.
